Authorities in Alabama confirmed that Hudson Meek, best known as the teenage actor who played Baby Driver in 2017, died after he fell out of a moving car.

Meek, 16 years old, was injured on Thursday, December 19, in Vestavia Hills, a suburb of Birmingham. According to the Jefferson County Coroner’s Office, he died two days after his injury. Vestavia Hill Police Department is investigating the death.

Meek played his first uncredited role in “The Santa Con”, a TV movie starring Melissa Joan Hart, which was released in 2014. In “90 Minutes in Heaven,” he earned his first major role opposite Hayden Christensen, Kate Bosworth, and Kate Bosworth.

In 2017, he played the younger version of Ansel Elgort’s character, Baby in the Academy Award-nominated film “Baby Driver.” Meek has appeared on a few television shows since then, including “Badanumu Cadets,” and “Badanamu Stories.”

Meek played the last role he was accredited for in 2024’s “The School Duel,” directed and written by Todd Wiseman Jr.

Meek, according to his obituary was a sophomore at high school and involved in the Student Government, Honor Choir, and Fellowship of Christian Athletes. Meek was also a fan of football and the outdoors. He also supported the Auburn Tigers.

The obituary stated that Hudson was “more than anything else, passionate about his Christian Faith.” He loved Bible Study meetings and youth retreats. He also enjoyed mission trips. Hudson, an active member of Dawson Memorial Baptist Church attended youth events at Shades Mountain Baptist Church, Vestavia Hills United Methodist Church, Mountain Brook Community Church, and any other churches that had a youth event focused on Jesus Christ.
