Ukraine’s former parliamentary speaker, Andriy Parubiy, was assassinated in broad daylight in the western city of Lviv this past Saturday. A search is currently underway for the person responsible for this horrific act.
The Prosecutor General’s office reports that the assailant fired multiple shots at Mr. Parubiy, resulting in his immediate death. The perpetrator remains at large, triggering a nationwide manhunt.
Parubiy was an influential figure in Ukraine’s political landscape. The 54-year-old statesman served as a member of parliament and held the position of parliamentary speaker from April 2016 to August 2019.
