City councilman Lee Vogler has been the victim of a violent attack involving fire in Danville, Virginia.
Lee Vogler was assaulted at his workplace, Showcase Magazine, on Wednesday. The alleged assailant, identified by local radio station WBTM as 29-year-old Shotsie Michael Buck Hayes, reportedly forced his way into the office and doused Vogler with gasoline before setting him on fire.
Vogler attempted to flee the attack, running to the front of the building. However, the assailant pursued him and ignited the fuel. Hayes is now in police custody.

This incident raises important questions about the safety of public officials and workplace security. The evidence suggests that this was not a random act of violence. Reports indicate that Vogler and Hayes were acquainted and that the attack stemmed from a personal matter.
Andrew Brooks, publisher of Showcase Magazine, has stated that Vogler is conscious and communicative. He is being transported to a specialized burn treatment facility in Lynchburg. The significance of his condition should not be overlooked as we await further medical reports.
